Another place Kayla and I stopped on Pine Street was AO Glass Works, where the doors were open, 80’s music was playing, and glass making was in progress. The friendly staff invited us up to the shop to watch glass blowing. Kayla was in awe of the entire process. You can’t beat a beautiful Wednesday afternoon going to Pine Street. First stop, Great Harvest Bread Company: http://greatharvestburlington.com. Kayla has been a regular there for over a year. Make a Splash!
This is an amazing program run through the Burlington YMCA. Children who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder can potentially receive 6 private 1/2 hour swim lessons. Not only are the swim lessons free, the teacher is wonderful and very skilled at working with children on the spectrum. The pool is also very warm. Team Impact and UVM Women’s Hockey
Kayla joined UVM women’s Hockey team under the Team Impact Program. Team Impacts mission is to improve the quality of life for children favoring life-threatening and chronic illnesses through the power of team. Although Kayla is not able to skate she loves to watch hockey. Kayla has been watching the UVM women’s hockey for two years now and is very excited to be a part of their team. She loves to give the women “high fives” before and after every period and cheer for them in the stands. When the games are past her bedtime, Kayla will go early and watch the team warm up. She loves to be at the rink and always asks if it is a hockey day. It is the first time in 7 years that we have seen Kayla so confident in herself and happy to be a part of the UVM team. … [Read more...]
